British writer and Joint winner of the Booker’s Prize 2019, Bernardine Evaristo, has expressed her displeasure over how A BBC presenter undermined her during his broadcast.
The BBC Present while trying to intimate his audience with the winners of the Booker’s Prize 2019, mention the name of the first joint winner, Margeret Atwood, and failed to mention the other winner’s name and instead described her as “another author”
Evaristo, the first black woman to win the prize would not accept been referred to as “another author”.
“The BBC described me yesterday as ‘another author’ apropos @theBookerPrizes 2019. How quickly & casually they have removed my name from history – the first black woman to win it. This is what we’ve always been up against, folks” she said in a tweet.

Station Magazine recalls that Bernardine Evaristo, a British-Nigerian, was listed among the contenders for the awards.
Other contenders for the awards include authors like Chigozie Obioma, Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, Elif Shafak and US author Lucy Ellmann.
Evaristo is the author of Amazone Bestselling, “Girls, Women, Others”.
