Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili is under fierce criticism for attending the annual World Economic Forum holding in Cape Town, South Africa.
The lead campaigner for the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign, attended the summit alongside Nigerian businessman Jim Ovia.
The appearance at the forum is coming hours after the Federal government pulled out of the Forum following xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
The former World Bank leader gave the reason for her appearance at the forum in a tweet below:
I shall be hosting a Special Session here to push the specific things that @GovernmentZA @CyrilRamaphosa must do to quickly FIX the BROKEN SYSTEM of security and protection for Nigerians and other Africans resident amongst them.
These #Attacks must not reoccur. Enough!— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) September 4, 2019

Despite her explanation, Nigerians on Twitter are not taking it easy with her. They basically expressed their displeasure at the action of the campaigner.
Read their reaction here:
Madam Oby is the last person I expect would go to a WEF in South Africa that everybody has concluded Nigeria should stay away from. I am really surprised that she of all people would do something she would have spoken very strongly against if somebody else did it.

Retweet for Madam Oby the Snake, Like for thrash basket! pic.twitter.com/hyK1tIRPjx

Somebody needs to sit madam Oby down and remind her that Muhammadu Buhari is the president of Nigeria and Nigeria is still her country, making him her president until 29th May 2023.
No amount of Einstein knowledge, pontification and grandstanding can change these— Souljah (@jeffphilips1) September 4, 2019
Madam Oby chose to attend WEF in South Africa, so she can sneak in a few tips about how to stop Xenophobia to the South African Govt. A Govt that already have a library full of such information, but refuses to act.
Her absence would have spoken louder than words, but oversabi wo

So if we had elected madam oby as our 1st female president, this is how she would have gone to South Africa & attended the World Economic Summit despite the #XenophobicAttacks on Nigerians@obyezeks pls remain in https://t.co/feyEVy3fdf, dont come back. The Federal government boycotted the World Economic Forum Summit for a reason. Regardless the capacity in which you were invited, the only sensible thing to do is to stand behind your government. Madam Oby and Jim Ovia both deserve all the backlash they are receiving currently.

Madam Oby Ezekwezili is just one of those well-packaged Twitter hypocrites who just come up with populist opinions on every issue just to continually be in the news. I'm just imagining the number of threads she'd have done if Buhari was the one attending WEF at a time like this! pic.twitter.com/XkLYXPAlfT

To be truthful, I didn't expect to see Madam Oby Ezekwesili & Mr Jim Ovia at #WEFAfrica19 in Durban, South Africa. Not at this time when the whole of Africa is disgusted with inaction of @CyrilRamaphosa in #XenephobicAttacks. It's irresponsible & insensitive of them to be there.

This is hypocrisy of the highest order. Imagine if the government had not taken the decision to boycott WEF, the likes of Madam Oby and co would have done thread enough to sew agbada.
