Foremost Director Niyi Akinmolayan and producer of the animation series Malika has opened up about the making of the series.
Akinmolayan, who spoke to Nigerian Info during an interview revealed that he was motivated to carry out the project when he was Roye Okupe’s Graphic Novel.
“Malika” the Protagonist was played by Adesua Etomi-Wellington. The animation also featured folks like Femi Branch, Deyemi Okanlowon, Sambasa Nzeribe, and Blossom Chukwujekwu.
According to Stockng.com, a kickstarter campaign was initiated to raise a sum of $15,000 for the pilot episode of the series, fortunately, $20,000 was raised. Amazing, $60000 was spent on the episode, 3 times the revenue they gathered from the kick-starter campaign.
According to the producer, Niyi Akinmolayan, “the teaser was meant to help him sell the comics for Roye Okupe, but when we finished it. It was too good for that. Meaning it could be much more than this. The potential was there”.
