As the death toll of the building collapse that occurred at Ita Faji area of Lagos Island, increases, reactions have trailed the unfortunate event.
Station Magazine understands that about 40 survivors have been successfully rescued while an unconfirmed number of deaths have been recorded.
Nigerians on social media bared their mind on issues that led to the loss of lives, especially those of young people.

The collapsed Lagos Island building had been marked for demolition & occupants asked to relocate last year.
Months later, the occupants came back, demolition mark erased, someone has been settled.
Now, the building collapsed, killing innocent school pupils.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in his reaction, expressed sadness on the event of the building collapse. He lamented the loss of valuable lives and admonished the Lagos State government to do all in its power to ensure that rescue operation is sustained.
I’m extremely saddened by the news of the collapsed building in Itafaaji area of Lagos. It touches one to lose precious lives in any kind of mishap, particularly those so young and tender. May God grant everyone affected by this sad incident fortitude and succour.

The Punch also had an interview with the son of the building owner who confirmed that his father had been rescued.
