The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has pegged the national minimum cut-off mark for admission into public universities for 2019 at 160.
The decision was taken at the Bola Babalakin auditorium, Gbongan, Osun state, during the 19th policy meeting on admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria on Tuesday.
The policy meeting, which was attended by stakeholders in the education sector, was presided over by JAMB Registrar, Isaq Oloyede.
The policy meeting also saw the approval 140 as a minimum score for admission into private universities in the country.
The minimum UTME score approved for admission into public polytechnics is 120, while 110 was approved for private polytechnics. For colleges of education, 100 and above was approved as the cut-off marks.
According to the registrar, the admission into all universities would be conducted on central admission processing system (CAPS).
He said JAMB is not responsible for the fixing of cut-off marks for tertiary institutions but rather a consensus between the institutions and stakeholders at the policy meeting.
Oloyede also cautioned candidates to beware of rumours that the board had released its official cut-off mark.
