Ireti

To deepen the conversation about Intimate Partner Abuse (IPV), which affects 1 out of 4 Nigerian women and 35 % of women all over the world, Ayomikun Pasede, produced a short Film “Ireti” to draw our attention to the reality of violence.

Directed by AMVCA winner, Michael ‘AMA Psalmist’ Akinrogunde, “Ireti” reveals the plight of victims of sexual or physical violence perpetrated by their partner.

According to Culture Custodian, The film revolves around a young couple whose love has become painful; the lady, Ireti, has been imprisoned by her lover who is angry she won’t reciprocate his now toxic love or accept his ring. He brings her food, but this isn’t the sweet breakfast in bed, this is master to slave, she rushes the meal like a dog who has eaten for days. (He’s been starving her.)

While Chukwuma Ukaegbu’s narration gave us the mental state of the abuser, The actors—Abdul TJ and Yinka Moor, gave life to the narration with their superb acting.
