The movie, “Òlòtūré”, which has been making wave on Netflix, has been in the cause of controversy.

The movie produced by EbonyLife Film, and set in Lagos, looked into the story of a young, naïve Nigerian journalist who goes undercover to expose the shady underworld of human trafficking.

The CEO of Ebony Life Film, Mo Abudu, in a bud to clear the air about the allegation of copyright infringement made against her company by investigative Journalist, Tobore Ovuorie, has published a video on her personal Instagram page.

Journalist, Tobore Ovuorie is author of the article, “Inside Nigeria Ruthless Human Trafficking Mafia” which was published in August 2014, by Premium Times, with which the film is based on.

However, Mo Abudu, in the video, insisted that she and her company did the needful by getting in touch with Premium Times before producing the movie.

Premium Times, on it part, insists that Ovuorie cannot lay claim to the copyright of the story, stating that only the media company and it’s a partner of that project, Zam Chronicles, can lay claim to the copyright for the report based on Nigeria’s copyright law.

Here is her full statement.
