International Prize for Contemporary African Photography Calls For Entry

CAP Prize

The CAP Prize 2020 is now open for entries from November 7, 2019 – February 7, 2020. Artists whose works engage the African continent or the African diaspora can apply.

The International Prize for Contemporary African Photography (CAP Prize) has been awarded annually since 2012 and is executed by the CAP Association. Offering a series of large scale outdoor exhibitions around the globe to winners, the prize is awarded to five photographers whose works engage with the African continent or the African diaspora.

CAP Prize entry competition is open to artists of any age and descent but its guideline emphasizes that series submitted must include a minimum of 10 to 25 images, must be part of a coherent series of work (single images are not permitted), and must be taken up to three years before the start of the competition.

A panel of international curators, publishers, editors and artists will review all submitted work, shortlisting twenty-five artists. Five of the shortlisted artists will be announced as winners at the Photo Basel International Art Fair in June 2020, and awarded the CAP Prize 2020.

The CAP Prize organising core team consists of artistic director Benjamin Füglister and development director Paul Geraghty, who regularly work with local partners for events and programs.

The competition is free and open till February 7, 2020. Additional entry requirements can be found here.
