High Court Nullifies Senator Adeleke’s Candidacy For Osun Governorship Election

The candidature of Senator Ademola Adeleke to represent the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 2018 election in Osun State has been nullified by an Abuja High Court on Tuesday.

Justice Othman Musa, in his ruling, agreed with the plaintiff that the defendant did not have the minimum educational qualification of secondary school leaving certificate as required by law.

Although the court agreed that the senator attended Ede Muslim High School, Ede, Osun State in 1976, however, the court said that there was no evidence to prove that he indeed graduated from the school.

Musa added that Adeleke’s form CF001 which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission is fake, and is different from what the Principal of Ede Muslim High School, Ede presented to the court.

Adeleke’s lawyer Nathaniel Oke (SAN) has said the ruling failed to take into account the West African Examination Council certificate evidence tendered before the court, adding that the judged erred in law to source for evidence on his own.

Station Magazine recalls that the election Tribunal for the Osun election has declared Adeleke winner of the September 2019 election after INEC had announced APC’s Gboyega Oyetola as winner.
