African parents are very dogmatic concerning the career of their children. It is obvious that African parents expect and force their children to take up certain careers, which in most cases does not represent what the kid intends to do.

In the view of Paige, a make-up artist from South London, her African heritage not only inspires her work but hinders it too.

She revealed that she had a long battle with her mother over her decision to go contrary to the career choice of her mother for her.

But after finding success, and taking part of BBC Three’s Glow-Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, her mum has been totally won over.
