It is usually said that the rewards of teachers are in heaven. However, the recognition of a Kenyan teacher, Peter Tabichi for his efforts in making his students one of the best in the continent has paid off, as he was recently named the best teacher in the world.

Tabichi, who teaches Mathematics and Physics in Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School, was elated to be recognized for his effort.

While speaking to BBC Africa, the excited teacher spoke on what winning the Global Teacher Prize means to him.

He also outlines what make him stand out from other teachers, and what he will do with the US $1 million prize money.

Tabichi who has been a teacher for 12 years said he was passionate about mentoring students especially girls who in most cases fine science subjects difficult.
