Do you know that there is a condition that makes sexual intercourse painful for women? The condition, known as Vaginismus, make some women shun sex.

Vaginismus is the tightening of the vagina’s muscles when something enters it – a tampon or a penis. Few know about it, and shame often stops them from seeking help.

Vaginismus can develop at any time throughout a woman’s life and can appear after they experience anything from thrush or childbirth to sexual trauma or the menopause.

A 2017 study found that nearly one in 10 British women find sex painful.
