The President of the Nigerian Senate Dr. Bukola Saraki, with other dignitaries, held a candle night in honour of the Nigeria-born Canadian Professor, Pius Adesanmi.

Prof. Adesanmi was one of the 157 persons who lost their lives in the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines plane crash in Ethiopia on Sunday.

The flight which was heading to Kenya from Addis Ababa.

The candle night, which was organised by friends, family, and members of civil society organisations, was an opportunity for those in attendance to say their final farewell to the luminary.

The Senate President, after signing the condolence register, appreciated the late professor for his positive criticism of the Nigerian government.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft crashed minutes after take-off from the Addis Ababa airport, prompting many countries, including Nigeria, Canada, and China to ban the plane from flying as airlines also grounded the planes in their fleet.
