Twenty-one years after the demise of one of Nigeria’s beloved footballer, Samuel Okwaraji, American Technological Company, Google, has honoured him with a Google Doodle on the 19th of May 2019.

The honour, which is to mark the posthumous birthday of the Nigerian football legend, brought back memories and emotion, in the mind of people who understand the circumstance that led to his death.

Okwaraji, who had Masters in international law from the Pontifical Lateran University of Rome, died of congestive heart failure after he collapsed in the 77th minute of a match against Angola at the Lagos National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State on 12 August 1989.

The Imo State Indigene debuted for the Green Eagles in 1988. He has also played for clubs like AC Roma, NK Dinamo Zagreb, Austria Klagenfurt and others.
