As the Nigerian lady, Zainab Aliyu, who was arrested by the Saudi Authorities in the Eastern country for being in possession for prohibited drugs await her fate, Nigerians, especially those on social media have been clamouring for the release of the lady.
The Nigerian government, based on the findings of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had insisted that the lady was a victim of a cartel at the Aminu Kano airport in Kano. The cartel reportedly specialises in placing hard drugs in bags in the names of air travellers, to their destination countries.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, however, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, to immediately intervene in the case of Zainab Aliyu.
These are what Nigerians on Social Media are saying about the matter.
Saudi Arabian authorities must free Zainab Habibu Aliyu. Her ordeal shows everything wrong with death penalty. Let us raise our voices, until Zainab is free. No one knows who can be the next victim of such injustice. #FreeZainab #Nigeria #ZainabIsInnocent pic.twitter.com/D6NpPwv6gS

According to Freedom Radio, The Saudi Consulate in Kano is denying everyone (journalists inclusive) access into their building as long as you're there on Zainab's case. This should be looked into by the government and activists.#FreeZainab #ZainabIsInnocent

I Honestly Feel That Those Scoundrels Who Planted Drugs+Tagged The Bag In Zainab Aliyu's Name At Kano Airport Should Be Handed Over To The Saudis For Trial & Possible Decapitation. The Depth Of Evil + Greed For Filthy Lucre Which They Epitomise Beggars Belief#ZainabIsInnocent
