With the condemnable fact that only 16% of Nigerians have access to safe drinking water and only 65 percent have a basic daily supply of water, Documentary photographer Mayor Otu is creating Awareness about this problem with his len and light.

With Ruga Kapante community in Abuja as his case study, the photographer and advocate, is bringing to fore the problem of poor, inadequate and unclean water supply in most part of Nigeria.

Otu who stated the need for something to be done to solve the problem pointed to the adverse effect of this problem on the health of the residents of the community.

Going to Ruga Katampe, Abuja to Document gave me a whole new insight on how getting something as little as clean water can be difficult.

According to the World Health Organization, “access to safe drinking-water is essential to health, a basic human right and a component of effective policy for health protection”.

This basic human right isn’t available for the people in Ruga Katampe most especially children who are prone to waterborne diseases.” He said.
