In what seemed to be unprecedented in Nigeria, Mark Ofua, Nigerian veterinary doctor, is running an animal shelter in Lagos.
The house accommodates about thirty species of animals, ranging from snakes, birds, baboons, to pangolins.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Ofua said he has operated his shelter for the past five years.
According to him, volunteers provide part of the care needed to ensure these animals have a quality of life that they wouldn’t be afforded elsewhere.
