American University Offers George Floyd’s Daughter Full Scholarship

A University in the United States, Texas Southern University (TSU), has offered the daughter of George Floyd slain African-American, Gianna Floyd full scholarship.

This offer was given to the 6-year-old girl with the hope that the educational offer will help in the university’s pursuit of ‘solutions and generational progress’.

The decision of the institution was made known in a statement on the university website and social media pages on Wednesday.

This is coming a day her father was laid to rest – the Board of Regents of TSU honoured the memory of Gianna Floyd’s father by approving a fund in conjunction with the Foundation Board.

This is not the first scholarship offer to the young girl. Popular rapper, Kanye West had also offered the young girl full scholarship to the university level.

Gianna’s father, George Floyd, was killed in Minneapolis, when officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for almost nine minutes on May 25.

The statement say:

The Board of Regents of Texas Southern University (TSU) honors the memory of George Floyd on the day that he is laid to eternal rest. Mr. Floyd was a lifelong citizen of the Third Ward and a revered graduate of Jack Yates High School. The Board, in conjunction with the TSU Foundation Board, has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd’s beloved daughter, Gianna. TSU’s executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University.
