The story of Tyler Perry has been one of great possibility. The 50 years old man was in 2011, listed in Forbes’ highest-paid man in entertainment, earning $130 million USD between May 2010 and May 2011.

Perry, who started his acting career in 1990, popularised the Madea character, a tough elderly black woman. He has produced numerous stage plays which have been adapted into films.

His recent achievement has caused him to be a source of great inspiration to all. In 2015, Perry acquired the 330-acre former military base Fort McPherson located in Atlanta, which he converted to studios. The studios were used to film the HBO Films/OWN film version of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, and is currently in ongoing use for the television series “The Walking Dead”. A studio he unveiled in 2019.

During his speech at the ground opening of Tyler Perry Studio, he said: “While everybody was fighting for a seat at the table talking about #OscarsSoWhite, #OscarsSoWhite, I said, ‘Y’all go ahead and do that,’But while you’re fighting for a seat at the table, I’ll be down in Atlanta building my own.”

Tyler Perry is a Christian and never shy from making the world know about his belief. He has become good friends with Janet Jackson, Will Smith, and Oprah Winfrey. He is with his partner Gelila Bekele and they have one kid.
