How to Love Yourself As An Introvert

Introverts are known to prone to overthinking. Overthinking most likely leads to anxiety, this can cumulate to so many things including self-hate. A lot of introverts don’t know how to circumvent this feeling of dejection or how to love themselves. I, until recent times, was on this table.

Introversion is a very complicated reality. As an introvert, you are constantly under pressure from society and even yourself. Must time, you fill trapped inside your head and nobody seems to understand who you are

You might also feel out of place, or alone in your claustrophobic world. You find t hard to love yourself because of the pressure the society has place on you to conform to their preference for extroversion. This pressure and uncertainty drain you of self-love. If you do not know, self-love simply means loving and appreciating yourself for who you are.

This article will share tips that will help you love yourself as an introvert.

Know who you are, Embrace Your Inner self

Knowing who you are, is the beginning of your quest to love yourself as an introvert. Most time introverts accept the negative traits attributed to their personality traits. This is because they lack some basic understanding of who they are. You need to understand that you are not shy, neither are you socially awkward, or snobbish. It was Until when I discovered that I was actually an introvert, did I realize that was I was not all I tagged myself. Introverts can embrace the beauty of solitude and deal with the awkwardness of energy-sapping social events when they know who they are and portray themselves as such.

I will advice that you understudy who you are, read about your trait and speak to people about how you feel. This will help you understand how to love yourself.

When you do this you become comfortable with yourself and inevitably build self-love. Acknowledge your weaknesses and embrace your curiosity in your quiet world.

Don’t Let what People Think About Your Bother You

The next step to self love is when you refuse to be moved by what people say or think about you. People will talk about you, they will form their perspectives. They might advice you to try to be what society thinks a proper human being to lead his or her life. This you must not do, especially when you are under pressure to deny your introvert instinct. One reason some introverts are unhappy is that they want the approval of others. They follow friends and do certain things because they want to impress people at the expense of their happiness.

“Stay true to your own nature. If you like to do things in a slow and steady way, don’t let others make you feel as if you have to race. If you enjoy depth, don’t force yourself to seek breadth.” ~ Susan Cain

Don’t compare yourself to others

Introverts at one point or the other wish they were like extroverts. They wished they were socially in tune. They want to be as cool as guys who know how to get all the attention. They want to be able to speak freely with thinking. The worst way to deal a heavy blow on your confidence is to compare yourself to others. You are different for a reason. It is important to see yourself as unique. You will only become a substandard product when you compare yourself to other people. be glad that you are quiet and God has a reason for making you so. Comparing yourself with other people affect your self-esteem negatively and reduces your ability to love yourself.

“A good rule of thumb is that any environment that consistently leaves you feeling bad about who you are is the wrong environment.” ~ Laurie Helgoe

Get Involved in Things You Are Passionate About

Introverts are creative people. They love to do things that they love in their space. To love yourself, get involve in courses or jobs you are passionate about. Your love for your job or craft can make you fill fulfilled and this can in turn make you love yourself. This, in other words, means that you should do invest your time in doing jobs that you love. Do not contemplate doing jobs that you know you are not down for. That will be the beginning of your happiness. Even if you have to work alone, do what you love.

Build Relationship With People That Understand You

Not everybody understands you. This is a fact. Must introverts are misconstrued and described with derogatory terms. But there are some folks who do not just understand your personality but also want to be around you. These folks might be introverts like you, others might be extroverts. These folks do not drain your energy. They understand you when you take time off to recharge your mental battery. They understand your need for quiet and always want to share your experience. These folks are assets, hold on to them well. It is important to build relationships with these kinds of people. They understand you and love you regardless of the fact that you heat some talk.

“Don’t think of introversion as something that needs to be cured…Spend your free time the way you like, not the way you think you’re supposed to.”~ Susan Cain
